Final amount may vary based on the amount and price of the cryptocurrency at the time it is received. Additional network 'gas' fees may apply, as well as payment processor fees.
Select to either Pay with Coinbase, or select a cryptocurrency - Bitcoin, Ethereum, or USD Coin. You can click Show more to display additional currencies - Litecoin, Dai, or Bitcoin Cash.
When paying with cryptocurrency, ensure you have the respective network's main currency to cover transaction fees associated with sending currency or tokens. For Ethereum, Dai, or USD Coin, this would be a small additional amount of Ethereum. For Bitcoin, this would be a small additional amount of Bitcoin. For Litecoin, more Litecoin. For Bitcoin Cash, more Bitcoin Cash.
The process varies for each crypto slightly. Having some experience with the particular network is advised. Below is an example of paying with USDC and the related Metamask confirmation for sending USDC over the Ethereum Network.
Be sure to set a reasonable gas price. Some wallets do not let you adjust this and may result in stuck transactions during periods of high network congestion. Setting this value too low can also result in a stuck transaction.
Sending an ERC20 token on the Ethereum network can be slightly more expensive than sending plain Ethereum. Take this into consideration during periods of high network congestion, as gas prices can swing drastically. These changes are more impactful when sending an ERC20 token. (ERC20 include Dai and USDC.)
If you're paying with a cryptocurrency, you should see a screen indicating your transaction was sent and awaiting confirmation from a node or block. After the transaction is picked up, you will need to wait for additional block confirmations for security reasons. You can click View payment to see the transaction on the relevant block explorer. You can also opt in for an email receipt by filling out your email.
That's it! Your transaction can still take a few minutes beyond the final block confirmation, so be patient.
